Navy assists douse fire broke out at shopping complex in Ambalangoda

A sudden fire that broke out in a shopping complex at the main street, Ambalangoda was brought under control by the Navy with the assistance provided by Galle fire brigade, today (26th May 2020).

Based on information about a fire at Ambalangoda, received to the operational room of the Southern Naval Command, the Navy promptly sent out a fire fighting team to the location. The naval personnel attached to the Fire Fighting Unit of Southern Naval Command using fire engines and water bowsers belonging to the Navy, after a strenuous effort controlled the spreading flames and extinguished the fire completely. Urban Council, Police and the residents of Ambalangoda, assisted the task.

A restaurant, an electrical shop and a textile shop were totally burned by the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed and Ambalangoda Police is conducting investigation on the incident. Sri Lanka Navy come forward for the assistance of general public in any of the emergency situations arise island wide.
