Navy renders assistance to ship crew transfers

The Navy, on 28th May 2020, rendered assistance to transfer a group of foreign nationals who arrived at the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport in a special plane, to board their ships at the port of Galle. Apart from that, the Navy also provided safe transport facilities to another group of foreigners from the same ships to the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, to fly their homes.

This team comprised of 41 crew members belonging to 03 ships at the port of Galle. Before being sent to their respective vessels, the crew members were disinfected by Navy’s Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit. In addition, the Navy has taken steps to provide transport facilities for 35 foreigners on those vessels to the Mattala International Airport, in accordance with safety procedures, to return their home countries.

The foreigners appreciated the country's efforts to control the new coronavirus, which is fast spreading across the globe. They also expressed their gratitude to the Navy for their unwavering support.
