Commander of the Navy calls on HE the President

Commander of the Navy, Admiral Piyal De Silva called on His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka at the President's House today (14th July 2020).

Upon being promoted to the rank of four-star Admiral, the Navy Commander paid this courtesy call on His Excellency the President, before relinquishing his duties as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. During the ensuing cordial discussion, His Excellency the President expressed best wishes for a prosperous future of the Navy Chief, post retirement.

A memento was also presented to His Excellency the President by Commander of the Navy signifying the importance of this occasion. Admiral Piyal De Silva will bid adieu to his naval career on 15th July 2020.

Meanwhile, Commander of the Navy also met with Defence Secretary, Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne, Commanders of the Army and Air Force and acting Inspector General of Police today. Mementoes were also exchanged to mark the importance of these occasions.
