Navy bids adieu to Rear Admiral Sudath Kurukulasooriya

Sri Lanka Navy today (17th July 2020) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Sudath Kurukulasooriya who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed in the past 34 years.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne along with Director Generals of the Navy extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Sudath Kurukulasooriya was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. After fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, he was sent off amidst cheers of senior and junior sailors making a street line.

Rear Admiral Sudath Kurukulasooriya joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet in 1986.The outgoing officer held a number of key appointments such as; Deputy Area Commander Western Naval Command, Commander North Central Naval Area, Director General Administration, Director Naval Projects and Plans etc. during his distinguished naval career.
