Navy undertakes repair work of defunct sluice gate of Ridiyagama tank

The Navy on 29th June 2020 rendered assistance to repair the sluice gate of Ridiyagama tank in Ambalantota.

Upon being informed by the Irrigation Department to the Naval Headquarters about one of the two sluice gates of the Ridiyagama tank which has been defunct, a team of naval personnel pressed into action. Accordingly, following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and supervision of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul a Navy diving team undertook this task which has to be performed with care.

After two days of tireless effort the diving team managed to repair the defunct sluice gate of Ridiyagama tank, bringing its operation back on track as of 30th June.
