Commander of the Navy addresses officers of course no. 01 at National Defence College

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne conducted a guest lecture for the officers of course no. 01 at National Defence College (NDC) Sri Lanka today (08th August 2022), at the invitation of the Commandant NDC, Major General Amal Karunasekara.

National Defence College was declared open on 11 November 2021, as the highest seat of learning on national security and strategy that promotes strategic thinking for the senior officers of the Tri-Services, Police and Public Service.

The participants of course no. 01 from the Tri-Services and Police lend their ears to a thought-provoking address made by Commander of the Navy on ‘National Security – Maritime Perspective, Sri Lanka Navy Concerns'.

In his address Vice Admiral Ulugetenne shed light on the role of the Navy in terms of maritime security, maritime security environment of Sri Lanka, border control, security of Sea Lines of Communication, protecting living and non-living resources and marine environment. In addition, he made the points clear about the maritime sector's contribution to the economy, maritime challenges for national security and the way ahead, strengthening of maritime security arms as well as development of maritime economy going hand in hand with the key elements of national security.

Signifying the importance of the occasion, mementos were also exchanged between Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and Major General Amal Karunasekara.
