Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe appointed as Director of National Authority for Implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention

The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander - in - Chief of the Armed Forces Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed Director General Engineering, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe as the Director of National Authority for Implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC) effective from 27th January 2023.

Navy-built 951st RO plant vested in public at Sella Kataragama

The 951st Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant built as part of the Naval Social Responsibility Project was declared open for community use at Sri Dammanikethana Temple and Pirivena in Sella Kataragama. The opening was held under the patronage of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Saman Perera today (29th January 2023).

Navy’s latest driving simulator in Welisara: A safe space to learn and improve driving skills

Offering a realistic and safe training experience to the Transport Assistants of the Sri Lanka Navy, a new driving simulator was established at the Naval Driver Training School in Welisara. Meanwhile, the new facility was declared open by the Director General Engineering, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe on 27th January 2023.

USS Anchorage departs on successful completion of CARAT – 2023

On successful completion of the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) – 2023 Exercise, USS ‘Anchorage’ (LPD-23) of the United States Navy departed the island this morning (27th January 2023). Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in compliance with naval traditions at the Port of Colombo.

CARAT – 2023 concludes, strengthening maritime cooperation

The Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) – 2023 bilateral exercise successfully concluded in Sri Lanka today (26th January 2023). Hosted by the U.S. Pacific Fleet in partnership with the Sri Lanka Navy, CARAT – 2023 Exercise was held in Colombo, Trincomalee and Mullikulam from 19th to 25th January.

Sea phase of CARAT - 2023 successfully held in western seas

Taking part in the sea phase of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise 2023, SLNS Gajabahu and SLNS Samudura of the Sri Lanka Navy and ‘USS Anchorage’ of the U.S. Navy successfully conducted a series of naval exercises off Negombo on 22nd and 23rd January 2023.

Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief exercise of CARAT – 2023 gets underway

The Marine Exercise (MAREX) of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2023, commenced in Mullikulam on 21st January 2023 and it was augmented by personnel from the U.S. Marine Corps, Sri Lanka Navy Marines, Special Boat Squadron, Rapid Action Boat Squadron, and Naval Infantrymen. Accordingly, the Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief (HADR) exercises of MAREX were held at the beach area of Mullikulam in the Northwestern Naval Command today (22nd January).
