The Navy's Research and Development Unit, in partnership with the Naval Social Responsibility Project and funded by the Presidential Secretariat, is leading a project to install 31 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants across the Anuradhapura district. On 10th December 2024, 05 more RO plants were inaugurated at Kaduruwewa and Kalesiyambalawa in Thalawa Divisional Secretariat and Kudabiliwewa, Kithsiri and Gangasiripura in Thambuththegama Divisional Secretariat, as an extension of this project.

A charity group led by Venerable Thich Phuoc Tan from Australia, comprising 42 members, visited ‘Anchorage’ – the Naval Care Centre in Welisara on 10th December 2024. The group’s visit was driven by a noble mission to support wounded-in-action veterans and enhance their quality of life.

The Sri Lanka Navy organized an Aloka Puja to illuminate the Sandahiru Seya premises, to invoke blessings on the occasion of 74th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy on 09th December 2024. The event was presided by Deputy Area Commander North Central Naval Area, Commodore Mangala Mummullage.

A French delegation comprising Deputy Director of the Defence and Security Cooperation Department of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jerome BRESSON and French Defence Attaché to Sri Lanka, based in New Delhi, Colonel Emmanuel PELTRIAUX met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters on 10th December 2024.
