The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda paid his respects to the Atamasthana (the eight sacred sites) and other prominent places of worship in Anuradhapura on 12th January 2025. This marked his first visit to the historic city since assuming office as the 26th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. He was accompanied by Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, during the visit.

The Southern Naval Command organized a cleanup campaign today (12th January 2025), covering the beach stretch from Samudra Mawatha to city limit of Galle, the beach area extending from the Gintota Bridge to Hikkaduwa and Hambantota Fisheries Harbour. This initiative was carried out in support of the government's "Clean Sri Lanka" project, launched under the motto "Beautiful Island, Smiling People."

In line with the vision of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, to promote a healthy work-life balance, the Sri Lanka Navy's Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department successfully organised a hiking expedition to Mount Gongala on 11th January 2025.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda embarked on a formal visit to the Eastern Naval Command on 11th January 2025. During this visit he called at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Naval Dockyard, SLNS Vijayaba and SLNS Vidura. The visit focused on assessing key operational activities, construction progress, and welfare initiatives within the command, where Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda also addressed officer and sailor under trainees and naval personnel regarding the role of the Sri Lanka Navy.
