The Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) ship AKEBONO arrived at the port of Colombo on a goodwill visit this morning (28 Oct 25). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

Ensuring community access to clean drinking water, a new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant established by the Sri Lanka Navy was declared open at Gamini National School in Vavuniya on 27 Oct 25.

The 11th Annual Presidential Environment Awards 2025, organized by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA), was held on 23 Oct 25 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) under the distinguished patronage of the President, Honourable Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The Northern Naval Command won the prestigious Silver Award of Commendation at the event, recognized as an Environmentally Friendly Government Institution.

In alignment with the strategic objectives outlined in NAVSTRAT-2030 and beyond, the Directorate of Engineering of the Navy organized a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Awareness Programme at the Naval Institute of Technology (NIT) on 22 and 23 Oct 25.

The annual Katina Pinkama ceremony at the Rathana Sadaham Meditation Centre in Kithulkote, Thanamalwila, was held on 25 and 26 Oct 25, with the contribution of Sri Lanka Navy and Naval Buddhist Association.

The Malaysian Coast Guard Ship ‘KM BENDAHARA’ arrived at the Port of Colombo on a replenishment purpose on 27 Oct 25. The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) in compliance with time-honoured naval traditions.
