Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 23 Dec 25. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda officially handed over the letter of appointment to Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera at the Navy Headquarters today and conveyed best wishes to him in his new role as Deputy Chief of Staff.

The Sri Lanka Navy has mobilized dedicated, island-wide efforts to deliver vital humanitarian aid and disaster relief to communities devastated by adverse weather.

The Sri Lanka Navy is contributing to ‘Nena Diri Meheyuma’, a week-long initiative led by the Uva Provincial Ministry of Education from 20 to 27 December 2025. The initiatives focus on rehabilitating schools and pre-schools in the Badulla district that sustained damage from Cyclone ‘Ditwah’.

As part of its 75th-anniversary commemorative events, the Sri Lanka Navy organized a mobile medical and dental clinic at the Government Tamil Mixed School, Palali North, on 23 Dec 25. This initiative fell under a series of religious, environmental, and social welfare programmes conducted by the Navy, reflecting its commitment to social responsibility and community wellbeing.
