The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) conducted a field visit to Mannar District, in order to inspect the lands used by North Western and North Central Naval Commands of Sri Lanka Navy, on 25 May 26.

In a significant boost to accommodation for naval personnel, several newly built and modernised facilities at SLNS Uththara in the Northern Naval Command were inaugurated on 26 May 26. Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, the Commander of the Navy, officially opened the facilities, with Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, the Commander Northern Naval Area, also in attendance.
