Commander of the Navy attends 25th International Seapower Symposium
The Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera attended the 25th International Seapower Symposium (ISS) which was held at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island from 19th to 22nd September 2023. As part of this visit, he met with several top brass of the maritime forces from regional and extra-regional countries, including the Vice Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Lisa M. Franchetti, the Commandant U.S. Coast Guard, Admiral Linda Fagan, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Admiral Samuel J. Paparo and the Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Vice Admiral Brad Cooper. During the ensuing discussions, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera shared views on maritime security, cooperation and several matters of bilateral importance with those chiefs of maritime forces.

Chief of Staff of the Navy presides over closing of VNF Annual Training Camp in Welisara
In a dignified sequence, the inspection of divisions of the Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Annual Training Camp was held at the parade ground of SLNS Lanka in Welisara on 21st September 2023. At the invitation of the Commandant VNF, Rear Admiral Saman Perera and Commanding Officer VNF, Commodore Nimal Wasantha, the occasion was graced by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne, as the Chief Guest.

INS Nireekshak departs island concluding her official visit
The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Nireekshak which arrived in Trincomalee on 14th September 2023 on a formal visit, departed the island 21st September. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in accordance with naval tradition at the port of Trincomalee.

Yoga instructor training programme successfully concludes
The yoga instructor training programme, conducted by the veteran actress and Yoga Acharini Mrs Anoja Weerasinghe for naval personnel, concluded on 18th September 2023. The closing ceremony held at the Commander Parakrama Samaraweera Memorial Indoor Sports Complex, SLNS Gemunu was held under the patronage of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne.

Commodore Superintendent Engineering Department in North Central Naval Command recognized with certification of ISO 45001:2018
The awarding of ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System certificate to the Commodore Superintendent Engineering Department in North Central Naval Command was held under the patronage of Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, and with the attendance of the Deputy Director General / Director (System Certification), Mrs SU Narangoda and Deputy Director General / Director (Quality Assurance) of Mrs NBD Neelakanthi of Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) at the Malima Reception Hall, SLNS Pandukabhaya – Poonewa on 15th September 2023.

Navy launches beach cleaning programmes to coincide with International Coastal Cleanup Day
Under the esteemed patronage of the Chief of Staff to the President and National Security Advisor, Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka, a beach cleaning programme unfolded at Port City Beach on 16th September 2023. This initiative which was conducted on the sidelines of the International Coastal Cleanup Day and the National Marine Resources Conservation Week was also participated by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.In a concerted effort to combat coastal pollution and preserve the natural beauty of shores, the Sri Lanka Navy orchestrated a series of beach cleaning programmes across all Naval Commands.

Commander of the Navy delivers 9th General Deshamanya Dennis Perera Oration
The 9th General Deshamanya Dennis Perera Oration, organized by the Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO), was held at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Auditorium on 15th September 2023. At the invitation of ARFRO, the ceremony was presided over by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera who also delivered the memorial oration of the annual event.

Undergraduates from Ocean University of Sri Lanka visit workshops at SLNS Rangalla
A group of 52 undergraduates pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering at the Ocean University of Sri Lanka visited the Navy engineering workshops at SLNS Rangalla on 29th August 2023. This opportunity enabled them to acquire direct, hands-on understanding of the repair and maintenance operations conducted within naval facilities.
