The Sri Lanka Navy today (28 Aug 25) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Chandima Silva as he relinquished his duties to which he was committed over the past 33 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.

Rear Admiral Jagath Kumara assumed duties as Commander Western Naval Area at the Western Naval Command Headquarters on 27 Aug 25.

A new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, set up by the Sri Lanka Navy, was officially opened on 24 Aug 25 at the village of Ambagaswewa in Polpithigama, Kurunegala. Implemented under the Naval Social Responsibility initiative, the project was realized through the technical expertise of the Navy.

The Commandant’s Cup Sailing Regatta – 2025 concluded in style at Sandy Bay, Trincomalee, on 23 August, after four days of thrilling competition on the waves. Organized for the fifth time by the Naval and Maritime Academy, the event was held under the auspices of the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka (YASL). The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, graced the closing ceremony and presented medals and trophies to the champions.

Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage officially assumed duties as Commander Northern Naval Area in a formal ceremony held at the Command Headquarters on 22 Aug 25.
