The Indian Naval Ship (INS) ‘Delhi’ arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit this morning (01st September 2023). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval tradition.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (01st September 2023) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Senarupa Jayawardana who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed for over thirty-eight (38) years.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, one of the proud products of Royal College Colombo, was felicitated in a fitting ceremony for his ascension to the pinnacle of the Navy by his Alma Mater today (31st August 2023).

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the conduct of traditional water-cutting ceremony of Sri Dalada Perahara at Gatambe on the morning of today (31st August 2023). As the grand procession (Esala Maha Perahera) of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and 04 Main Devalayas came to an end, this time-honoured ceremony also known as ‘Diya Kepeema’ was performed, on a ritualistic note.

A delegation headed by the United States Senator Chris Van Hollen met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on board SLNS Gajabahu in Colombo today (30th August 2023). The visit is part of the United States assistance programmes in the region and to discuss opportunities to enhance cooperation. U.S. Ambassador in Colombo H.E. Juli Chung was also present on this occasion.

An Indian National Defence College (NDC) delegation, currently in Sri Lanka as part of their study tour, called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (28th August 2023).

A group of naval personnel consisting of one (01) officer and five (05) sailors successfully completed the 53rd Basic Airborne Course and passed out at the Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ampara on 24th August 2023.

The newly appointed Defence Advisor to the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Colonel Muhammad Farooq called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters in Colombo today (22nd August 2023).

The Inshore Patrol Craft Handling Foundation Course held for Navy’s woman crew successfully concluded at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. The initiative got off the ground as part of the Global Maritime Crime Programme of United Nations Office of Drug and Crime. The certificate awarding of the programme was held under the patronage of Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Buddika Liyanagamage on 18th August 2023.
