Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne presented certificates of commendation under the ‘IMO Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea – 2021’ to 04 naval personnel, during a special ceremony held at the Auditorium of Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee recently. The certificates of commendation were issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) taking into account the bravery of these individuals.

The Eastern Naval Command organized a blood donation campaign at the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee recently, as part of its events held in parallel with the 71st anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy.

As part of the religious segment of Sri Lanka Navy’s 71st Anniversary, a spiritual event was held at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya on 28th December 2021. The special ritual was presided over by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, in the company of the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne.

A tree planting campaign, launched by Sri Lanka Navy, was held in Panama area under the auspices of Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake today (27th December 2021).

A beach cleaning programme, organized by Sri Lanka Navy, was successfully conducted in the beach area from Urumalai to Talaimannar on 26th December 2021.

Several new constructions put up with a view to expanding welfare facilities of naval personnel in Northwestern Naval Command were declared open by Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularathne on 23rd and 24th December 2021.

A blood donation campaign organized by the North Central Naval Command was held with the contribution of naval personnel of the Command at the Malima Reception Hall, Poonewa on 23rd December 2021.

As the celebrations around the festive season begin, a Christmas carol service organized by the Sri Lanka Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and Navy Christian Council was held at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre on the evening of 23rd December 2021 on a successful note. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne, the colourful event was graced by the First Lady, Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa as the Chief Guest.

A Training of Trainers (TOT) programme focused on educating naval personnel as how to prevent Non Communicable Disease (NCD) and guiding them for a healthy life, was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters on 16th and 17th December 2021.

The opening of the computer laboratory of Howpe Maha Vidyalaya, renovated by Sri Lanka Navy, was held with the attendance of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Prasanna Hewage on 20th December 2021.
