Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka visits Eastern Naval Command

The Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka, H.E. Akio Isomata visited the Eastern Naval Command Headquarters in Trincomalee and met with the acting Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Indika De Silva on 20th January 2025.

RO plant at Bomaluwa Viharaya, Anuradhapura declared open for community use

The Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, built as part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project by the Navy's Research and Development Unit, was declared open at Bomaluwa Viharaya in the sacred city of Anuradhapura today (21st January 2025). The facility was inaugurated by Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jagath Kumara and Human Resources Director of Bodyline (Pvt) Ltd., Ms. Senarath. Members of Venerable Maha Sangha including Atamasthanadipathi and Chief Sanghanayake of “Nuwara Kalaviya,” Most Venerable Pallegama Sirisumana Rathanapala Hemarathana Nayake Thero invoked blessings on this occasion.

Sri Lanka Navy Adventure Team completes another challenging expedition

The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) Adventure and Nature Sports Team recently (from 16th to 18th January 2025) concluded a successful adventure and camping expedition, traversing some of the most challenging and picturesque terrains in Kalupahana. The journey covered key landmarks, including Bambarakanda, Weli Wanguwa, and the iconic Devil’s Staircase to Ohiya, showcasing both the team's resilience and the breath-taking natural beauty of the region.

RO plant at Kaudulla Maha Vidyalaya, Medirigiriya declared open

The Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, built as part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project by the Navy's Research and Development Unit, was declared open at Kaudulla Maha Vidyalaya in the Divisional Secretariat of Medirigiriya on 17th January 2025. The project, carried out with industrial expertise of Research and Development Unit, was funded by Perera and Sons Bakers (Pvt) Limited. Also, the facility marked the 1076th unit delivered under the NSR Project.

25th anniversary of Provost and Regulating branch of the Navy celebrated with beach cleaning drive

The Sri Lanka Navy organized a cleaning programme at the beachfront of Talaimannar Lighthouse today (16th January 2025) on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the Provost and Regulating branch. This initiative was carried out in support of the government's “Clean Sri Lanka” project, launched under the motto “Beautiful Island, Smiling People.”

Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy

Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 31st December 2024. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda officially handed over the letter of appointment to Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe at the Navy Headquarters today (15th January 2025) and expressed his best wishes to him in his new role as Deputy Chief of Staff.

Rear Admiral Damian Fernando appointed as Chief of Staff of the Navy

The President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander – in – Chief of the Armed Forces, Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake appointed Rear Admiral Damian Fernando as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 31st December 2024.
