Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijayaba located in Nilaveli in the Eastern Naval Command arrested 8 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using monofilament nets in the sea area off Salli Sambalthivu on (28) yesterday.

The foreign delegates who are attending the Galle Dialogue - 2016 in Colombo, called on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne to express their thanks for the Sri Lanka Navy's flag ship event, the Galle Dialogue, which has attracted many maritime experts and strategists around the world for exchange of views and discussions which are of great importance for Fostering Strategic Maritime Partnerships among stakeholders.

On receipt of intelligence information, Naval personnel attached to SLNS Uttara located in Kankasanthurai in Northern Naval Command, in coordination with Point Pedro Police, arrested three persons for having 42 kg of Kerala Cannabis in their possession, in the general area of Valvettithurai yesterday (27).
