PNS SAIF departs island concluding formal visit
The Pakistan Naval Ship (PNS) SAIF, which arrived in Sri Lanka on 30th January 2024, departed the island today (01st February), on successful completion of her formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship at the Colombo port, following naval traditions.

Forty-nine (49) Midshipmen set sail on their naval journeys as commissioned officers in Trincomalee
In a poignant ceremony marked by a strong sense of duty and national pride, 49 midshipmen embarked on their naval careers as commissioned officers on 28th January 2024. The commissioning ceremony, held at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, was graced by the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

Four-storeyed Sanghawasa of Panchathuparama Purana Maha Viharaya in Thotagoda, Akmeemana declared open
The four- storeyed Sanghawasa of Panchathuparama Purana Maha Viharaya in Thotagoda, Akmeemana, constructed utilizing skilled labour and industrial expertise enabled by the Navy, was declared open by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera today (27th January 2024). The spiritual ceremony, held amidst the blessings of venerable Maha Sangha, including the Anunayake of Malwatta Chapter Most Venerable Niyangoda Dharmakeerthi Sri Sangharakkitha Vijithasiri Abhidana Thera, was graced by the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake and Minister of Health, Hon. Ramesh Pathirana.

Media briefed about 1927 helpline for drug-dependent individuals seeking rehabilitation
In a significant stride towards combating drug addiction and aiding those in need, a media briefing was held today (26th January 2024) at the Light House Galley, Colombo to announce the launch of the 1927 helpline, designed to serve as a crucial lifeline for drug-dependent individuals seeking rehabilitation. The event was chaired by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera who is also the Chairman of the Task Force to Combat the Use of Poisonous and Dangerous Drugs.

National Lotteries Board sponsors for 02 Reverse Osmosis plants
The Chairman, National Lotteries Board, Dr. Chameera C. Yapa Abeywardana handed over a cheque to the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera for the installation of 02 brackish water Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants. This benevolent act transpired at the Navy Headquarters on 24th January 2024.
