As part of the Naval Social Responsibility Project, 02 medical grade Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants designed for the Hemodialysis Unit at National Hospital – Kandy were declared open for community use on 17th May 2024.

Coinciding with the 15th Victory Day anniversary 3146 sailors have been advanced to their next higher rates by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, with the approval of Hon. President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

On successful completion of their training at Naval Institute of Technology (NIT) in Welisara, 20 naval artificer apprentices of the 20th artificer intake of NIT passed out at the main parade ground of NIT in Welisara today (17th May 2024). At the invitation of Acting Training Commander, Commander RS De Soyza, the ceremony was graced by Director General Civil Engineering, Rear Admiral Hiran Balasooriya, as the Chief Guest.

Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, who was newly appointed as Commander Eastern Naval Area, assumed duties at the Command Headquarters in Trincomalee today (16th May 2024).

During her visit to the Northern Province, the U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Julie Chung met with the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohitha Abeysinghe at the Northern Naval Command Headquarters on 15th May 2024.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera declared open a newly built two-storeyed Sanghawasa at Sri Dharma Nikethana Maha Pirivena in Sella Kataragama on 11th May 2024. The Sri Lanka Navy enabled its manpower and industrial expertise for the construction of this two-storeyed Sanghawasa building.

The Navy successfully conducted a training exercise focused on chemical spillage at Ashroff Jetty, Trincomalee in the first quarter of the year 2024. Chemical spillage poses significant threats to both public safety and security due to their potential for catastrophic consequences.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera embarked on a formal visit to the Southeastern Naval Command from the 08th to 10th of May 2024. This visit encompassed a comprehensive overview of operational matters, developmental initiatives, and welfare projects underway within the command. Addressing officers and sailors of the command, the Navy Chief also briefed on how they could dedicate themselves more effectively to fulfill the Navy's duties.

A Pakistan National Defence University (NDU) delegation, currently in Sri Lanka as part of an overseas study tour, visited the Navy Headquarters and called on the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake on 07th May 2024.
