A suspect nabbed with approx. 368kg of foreign-origin cannabis valued over Rs. 73 million
In a combined operation conducted on 04 Mar 26, the Sri Lanka Navy and the Kayts Police seized a consignment of foreign-origin cannabis weighing approximately 368kg at the Suruvil beach area of Kayts Island, Jaffna. The operation also led to the arrest of a suspect (01) and a dinghy (01).

In continuation of these efforts, during an operation conducted on the high seas south of Sri Lanka, the Navy apprehended eleven (11) suspects aboard two local multi-day fishing trawlers suspected of drug smuggling.

In line with the "A Nation United" National Mission, aimed at safeguarding future generations from the threat of narcotics, the Sri Lanka Navy has intensified drug-interdiction operations across the island. These efforts are carried out through a collaborative approach involving local and foreign maritime stakeholders as well as law enforcement agencies.
