Six (06) individuals held for involvement in illegal fishing

In separate operations conducted by the Navy from 21 to 24 Oct 25, six (06) individuals involved in illegal fishing activities were apprehended along with 04 dinghies in multiple locations.

In the coastal areas of Black Point, Kokilai and Irakkandi in Trincomalee and Kadeikadu in Jaffna, the Eastern and Northern Naval Commands nabbed these individuals for their involvement in fishing with unauthorized nets and practicing illegal fishing methods.

The suspects, along with fishing boats, held in these separate operations were handed over to the Fisheries Inspectors of Trincomalee, Mullaitivu, Kuchchaweli and Jaffna for legal action.
