Navy seizes an Indian trawler for poaching in northern waters

Sri Lanka Navy carried out a special operation on the night of 30th March 2022, to chase away a large number of Indian trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters northwest of Kovilan Point Lighthouse in Karainagar, Jaffna. In this operation, the Navy seized an Indian trawler with 03 Indian fishermen for poaching in island waters through the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

Sri Lanka Navy took hold of an Indian trawler with 04 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters. The apprehension was made in seas south of the Delft Island during a patrol carried out on the night of 28th March 2022.

Suspect nabbed with 1418kg of unauthorized fishing nets in Mannar

A special operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with Police in Uppukulam, Mannar on 27th March 2022, led to the apprehension of 1418kg of unauthorized (Monofilament) fishing nets stashed in a house. Meanwhile, the raiding party also held a suspect involved in this illegal act, during this operation.

Sri Lanka Navy seized an Indian dhow with 06 Indian fishermen while poaching in Sri Lankan waters. The apprehension was made in seas northwest of the Kovilan Lighthouse, Jaffna during a patrol in the wee hours of today (19th February 2022).

Navy seizes 02 Indian poaching trawlers in Sri Lankan waters

In an operation conducted in seas north of Talaimannar in the dark hours of 12th February 2022, Sri Lanka Navy managed to seize 02 Indian trawlers with 12 Indian fishermen, whilst poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

In an operation conducted off the Delft Island in the dark hours of 07th February 2022, Sri Lanka Navy took hold of 03 Indian trawlers and 11 Indian fishermen for poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

Navy takes hold of 02 Indian trawlers for poaching in Sri Lankan waters

In a special operation conducted by Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard, 02 Indian trawlers with 21 Indian fishermen were held for poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters, off Kovilan and Point Pedro Lighthouse, Jaffna on the night of 31st January 2022.
