89 persons held for engaging in illegal fishing practices

During operations conducted by the Eastern, Southeastern, Northwestern, Northern and North Central Naval Commands from 01st to 31st July 2021, the Navy managed to nab 89 individuals for engaging in illegal fishing. The operations also made way to seize 30 fishing boats and several other fishing accessories used for these illegal practices.

Navy nabs 442 persons while engaging in illegal fishing

uring special operations conducted in Eastern, Southeastern, Northwestern, Northern and North Central Naval Commands in past 03 months commencing from 01st April to 30th June 2021, Sri Lanka Navy managed to apprehend 442 individuals, along with 153 fishing boats and other fishing accessories, while engaging in illegal fishing practices.

Search operations carried out by the Navy from April to thus far (05th June 2021) in the Northern and North Central Naval Commands led to the apprehension of 45 suspects with 4040 illegally harvested sea cucumbers and diving gears.

Four (04) Indian fishing vessels in Sri Lankan waters repatriated by Navy

By virtue of special patrols being conducted to prevent people from entering Sri Lankan waters by illegal means, the Navy was able to prevent 40 individuals aboard 04 Indian fishing vessels, from their attempt to enter into Sri Lankan waters on 29th May 2021.

Navy takes hold of 10219 illegally harvested sea cucumbers

Naval operations carried out in Eastern, Northern, Northwestern and North Central Naval Commands in the past 02 weeks led to the seizure of 10219 sea cucumbers illegally harvested through night diving and apprehension of a group of individuals and diving gear used for this illegal act.
