Navy finds water gel sticks in Pulmoddai beach area

A special search operation conducted by the Navy in the beach area of Jinnapuram, Pulmoddai on 05th April 2024, led to the recovery of 06 water gel sticks, which are used as commercial explosives, 01 safety fuse and 20 non electric detonators.

Navy nabs 07 persons for engaging in illegal fishing in eastern waters

The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 07 persons for their involvement in illegal fishing using unauthorized fishing gear, during a search operation conducted in Rathugala sea area, Trincomalee in the dark hours of 04th April 2024. A dinghy (01) and unauthorized fishing equipment used for this illegal act were also taken into the naval custody, during this operation.

Navy apprehends 05 persons transferring illegally harvested sea cucumber in Mannar

The Navy apprehended 05 persons who were transferring illegally harvested sea cucumber, during a search carried out in Achchankulam of Mannar in the wee hours of today (04th April 2024). The illicit harvest of sea cucumbers, undertaken under the cover of night and without valid license, comprised 589 of these marine creatures. In addition, the Navy also held 03 motor scooters and diving gear.

Navy apprehends 16 persons for illegal harvesting of sea cucumber in Mannar seas

The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 16 persons who engaged in illegal night diving, during a search operation conducted off Iranativu-south, Mannar in the wee hours of 26th March 2024. The search operation also led to the seizure of 05 dinghies, diving gear and 3178 sea cucumbers.

Navy seizes 05 poaching trawlers in Sri Lankan waters

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted separate operations to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lankan waters in the dark hours of 20th March 2024. The operations led to the seizure of 05 Indian trawlers and apprehension of 32 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Talaimannar and near the Delft Island.

The operation led to the seizure of 01 Indian trawler and apprehension of 15 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off the Kovilan Lighthouse in Kareinagar.

The operation led to the seizure of 03 Indian trawlers and apprehension of 22 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off the Kovilan Lighthouse in Kareinagar.

A search operation conducted by the Navy led to the apprehension of 09 persons for engaging in light-coarse fishing off Chalei, Jaffna on 08th March 2024. During the operation, 05 dinghies and unauthorized fishing gear used for this illegal activity were also taken into custody.
