Navy takes hold of over 300kg of Kendu leaves from Marawila seas

The Sri Lanka Navy took hold of over 300kg (wet weight) of Kendu leaves during a search operation in the sea area off Marawila on 07 Feb 26.

A naval craft attached to the Western Naval Command, located ten (10) suspicious sacks adrift in the Marawila sea area and retrieved this consignment of Kendu leaves, believed to have been abandoned by smuggles, due to heightened naval surveillance in the area.

The consignment of Kendu leaves was handed over to the Nnarcotics Control Office at the Colombo Harbour for onward legal action.
