Navy renders assistance to apprehend foreign cigarettes and tobacco products made ready to be sold illegally

A coordinated search operation carried out by the Navy and the Office of Excise Department in Galle led to the apprehension of 02 suspects with 120 packets of foreign cigarettes, over 05kg of tobacco powder and 2400 cigarette filters in Ahangama today (18th January 2022).

Two suspects held with 1266kg of smuggled cardamom in Puttalam

A coordinated operation conducted by the Navy and Police STF in Ettalai, Puttalam on 15th January 2023 led to the apprehension of 02 suspects with 02 cabs loaded with about 1266kg of smuggled cardamom and 40kg of insecticide. The smuggled consignment of cardamom and insecticide has been made ready to be distributed by cabs, when they were arrested.

Sri Lanka Navy seized about 470 g of gold and a conch shell (Valampuri) attempted to be smuggled from the country, during a special operation carried out in seas off Kurusapadu in Pesalai, Mannar in the dark hours of 25th July 2022. Navy seizes a stock of smuggled dried turmeric, cardamom and herbicide

Sri Lanka Navy managed to take hold of about 1828kg of dried turmeric, 137kg of cardamom and 134 bottles of herbicide, attempted to be smuggled into the island, during a special operation mounted in seas off Allappiddi of the Kayts Island, Jaffna today (30th March 2022). The operation also led to the apprehension of a suspect (01) in connection to the illegal act.

Navy nabs suspect with commercial explosives in Trincomalee

A special operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with Police STF at Iranakeni in Trincomalee on 21st March 2022 made way to apprehend a suspect for transferring explosives by a motorbike. Among the items seized were 20 Water Gel sticks, a type of commercial explosive, and 25 non-electric detonators.
