Navy apprehends 04 suspects with about 1026kg of smuggled dried turmeric in Kalpitiya

A special operation conducted by the Navy in Eththale, Kalpitiya this morning (05th September 2021) made way to the seizure of about 1026kg of dried turmeric stock attempted to be smuggled in. The Navy also collared 04 suspects and took hold of 02 dinghies in connection to the incident.

Sri Lanka Navy managed to seize a stock of smuggled dried turmeric weighing over 2023kg, during special operations conducted in the Negombo lagoon on 31st August 2021. The operations also led to the apprehension of 02 suspects and 02 dinghies involved in these smuggling attempts.

Over 1500kg of smuggled dried turmeric stock and 05 suspects held in separate operations

Special operations conducted by the Navy in Pichchanikulam area, Silawathura and on Ippanthivu Island in Kalpitiya this morning (27th August 2021) made way to the recovery of about 1599kg of dried turmeric hidden away by smugglers. The operations also led to the apprehension of 05 suspects and a cab in connection to one of the above incidents.

Navy takes hold of over 1377kg of smuggled dried turmeric during operations in 03 days

Special operations conducted by the Navy at the beach of Arippu in Mannar and lagoon area of Kalpitiya on 22nd, 23rd and 24th August 2021 led to the recovery of about 1377kg of dried turmeric attempted to be smuggled in.

Over 5300kg stock of dried turmeric smuggled by sea taken into custody

Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) seized an Indian dhow with over 5300kg of dried turmeric in seas off Chilaw Point yesterday (07th August 2021). The suspicious Indian dhow was in Sri Lankan waters, via the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), when the seizure was made by the SLCG.

Navy takes hold of 2360kg of dried turmeric at Vankalai beach

Sri Lanka Navy managed to take hold of about 2360kg of dried turmeric at the Vankalai beach in Mannar on 11th July 2021. A foot patrol conducted by the Navy in the beach area led to the recovery of the consignment which was suspected to have attempted to smuggle into the island.

Navy seizes over 2000kg of smuggled dried turmeric in 03 days at Mannar

Sri Lanka Navy managed to seize about 2021kg and 400g of dried turmeric attempted to be smuggled into the country, during special operations conducted in the beach areas of Achchanakulam, Naruvilikkulam and South Bar on 29th and 30th June and 01st July 2021. The operation also made way to apprehend 06 suspects, 02 dinghies, 01 van and 01 three-wheeler in connection to these dried turmeric rackets.
