SLNS Vijayabahu receives critical fisherman brought by ‘MV KOTA CAMIL’
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo coordinated the retrieval of 02 critically ill fishermen on the multi-day fishing trawler “Devon 5”, through the merchant ship ‘MV KOTA CAMIL’ this morning (30th June 2024). However, one of the two fishermen has tragically lost his life, while aboard the merchant ship. The remaining fisherman was transferred to SLNS Vijayabahu this evening (30th June), about 170 nautical miles (314 km) off Dondra.

Navy intensifies flood relief efforts across Western, Southern, and Sabaragamuwa Provinces
Amidst severe weather conditions, the Navy has deployed its relief teams to aid flood-affected communities in the Western, Southern, and Sabaragamuwa provinces. The teams rescued 102 individuals in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Rathnapura, Galle and Matara districts, from flood emergencies as of this evening (03rd June 2024). In addition, the Navy has facilitated the transportation by boats, for approximately 919 people to fulfil their daily necessities.

Six (06) fishermen rescued from distress trawler brought ashore by Navy
The Sri Lanka Navy this morning (02nd June 2024) brought ashore the 06 fishermen whom were rescued from a distressed trawler. The fishermen were rescued by a tanker about 480 nautical miles (889km) off Dondra, south of Sri Lanka, on being coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (31st May 2024) rendered assistance to rescue 06 fishermen from a distressed local multi-day fishing trawler which was about 480 nautical miles (889km) off Dondra, south of Sri Lanka. Navy deploys relief teams to aid people in distress with overflowing Katupiti Oya, Madampe
Due to the recent heavy rainfall across the country, the Henepola area has been flooded by the overflowing Katupiti Oya in Madampe, Puttalam. In response to the situation, the Navy dispatched a flood relief team to the area on May 26, 2024. The relief team is currently working in full swing to assist those affected by floods.

Navy aids in rescue of fishermen from distressed local fishing trawler in eastern waters
In a search and rescue operation led by the Sri Lanka Navy, in coordination with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo, 03 fishermen from a distressed local fishing vessel were rescued off the east coast of Sri Lanka, about 42 nautical miles (77km) off the Batticaloa Lighthouse on 17th May 2024. One (01) of the rescued individuals was transferred to Trincomalee by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard for medical attention, while the remaining two (02) were transferred to Valaichchenai by another fishing vessel that was in the vicinity.

Navy assists transfer of ill fisherman rescued through coordination of MRCC Colombo
The Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to bring ashore an ill fisherman whose life was at risk while aboard a local multi day fishing trawler in southern waters of Sri Lanka. The fisherman was retrieved by a Merchant Vessel in the sea area, on being coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo. After being brought ashore on 27th April 2024, he was rushed to the General Hospital, Colombo for medical attention.

Navy comes to aid, safely transfers injured foreign national ashore for medical attention
In a display of swift response, the Sri Lanka Navy today (20th April 2024) stepped in to provide crucial assistance in transferring a foreign national who was injured while aboard the Merchant Vessel MARIMAN off the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The evacuation operation of the injured mariner was coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo, when requested by the Merchant Vessel. The patient was rushed for immediate medical attention, upon being brought him to the port of Hambantota by the Navy.
