Logistics Conference - 2023 and Certificate Awarding of LLMC No. 7 conclude in Trincomalee

The Logistics Conference - 2023 and Certificate Awarding of Long Logistics Management Course (LLMC) No.7 were held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 29th and 30th April 2023. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Logistics Conference was graced by the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe.

The conference focused on the theme of 'From Value Chain to Value Network: The Role of Integrated Logistics’ and featured three (03) sessions in which student officers of LLMC No. 7 presented six (06) research papers.

Accordingly, the first, second and third sessions were held under the topics of ‘Integrated Logistics as a Means to Overcome Contemporary Challenges’, ‘The Evolution of Value Creation in Logistics on Sustainable Supply Network’, and ‘Achieving Supply Chain Visibility through Digitalization & Integrated Logistics’ respectively.

One of the highlights of the conference was the keynote address by the Chief Guest, Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe who also launched the e-journal of the Logistics Conference.

Marking the culmination of LLMC No 7, student officers were awarded certificates by the Commander of the Navy. Accordingly, Lieutenant Commander Madushika Kathriarachchi excelled in the course of study securing the award for the Highest Aggregator in Naval Subjects. Further, Lieutenant Commander Menuka Samarajeewa was recognized as the Most Inspired Officer.

Addressing the gathering, Commander of the Navy highlighted the importance of logistics, at a time when logistics is becoming more and more automated and said that the precision management of logistics for its efficiency and effectiveness is very much important. Adding further, he said that this year's conference, held under a timely theme, is very important for identifying the current challenges in the supply sector. The experience gained from the previous conferences, has enabled the Navy to come a long way in its efforts to enhance cooperation with all stakeholders interested in the field of logistics, he further opined.

The Logistics Conference – 2023 had been organised by the student officers of LLMC No. 7 under the able guidance of Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage and with the support of the NMA Directing Staff. Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, Director General Logistics, Rear Admiral Chandana Rathnayake, Director Generals, retired senior officers, a cross section of logistics officers from the Navy Headquarters and Naval Commands, officers from the sister services and Police, Commodore S.M. Zamil Hossain from the Bangladesh Navy and a group of officer under trainees of NMA were present on this occasion.
