Navy rescues sea turtle trapped in bag

The Navy rescued a sea turtle, which was trapped in a bag, in the seas off Negombo area, on 29^th January 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy's Offshore Patrol Vessel SLNS "Samudura" which participated in Colombo Naval Exercise (CONEX 2020) on 29^th January, had spotted this sea turtle which was trapped in a bag.

Accordingly, the sea turtle which was taken aboard the ship to rescue from the bag was safely released back to ocean by the crew members.

The Navy is taking measures for the conservation of sea turtles that have been classified as endangered marine creature.
