Commander of the Navy presides planting of 100,000 mangrove saplings and opening of Puttalam new jetty on the sidelines of 71st Navy anniversary
On the sidelines of the 71st anniversary celebrations of Sri Lanka Navy, the event of planting 100,000 mangrove saplings in the lagoon area from Chilaw to Malwathuoya, estuaries and banks was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne on 18th December 2021. In the meantime, Commander of the Navy also ceremonially declared open the new jetty of Puttalam on 18th December 2021.

Navy launches mangrove planting programme to coincide with International Mangrove Day
Sri Lanka Navy conducted a beach cleaning and mangrove planting programme to coincide with the International Mangrove Day. These programmes were held under the auspices of Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Bandula Senarathna in the beach areas of Talaimannar and Nachchikuda today (26th July 2021).

Oceanlust’s reef cleaning project kicks off with the attendance of Commander of the Navy
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne presided over the inauguration of 1st reef cleaning project in 2021 organized by ‘Oceanlust’ e-magazine at Malima Club House, Uswetakeiyawa today (27th March 2021). The main aim of the programme was to clean the natural coral reef extending northwards from the Kelani estuary and the neighboring shoreline.
