The Navy intercepted a cab and seized about 1286kg of Tendu leaves, believed to have been smuggled into the country, during a special operation mounted in Sethapola area in Norochcholai this morning (07th December 2023). The operation also led to the apprehension of 02 suspects in connection to the racket.

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted special operations to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lankan waters in the evening of 06th December 2023. The separate operations led to the seizure of 04 Indian trawlers with 21 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Mannar and off Kovilan, Kankasanthurei.
