Navy launches flood relief missions across affected regions

The Navy has deployed 10 relief teams to Ampara, Trincomalee, and Anuradhapura districts to assist communities impacted by severe flooding caused by the ongoing adverse weather. As of today (30th November 2024), the teams continue to conduct relief operations across the affected areas.

With the heavy rainfall; Navinnaweli in Ampara, Mailapancheni, Safinagar, Muththuchchennai (Thuwakkuwa Junction), Muthur Junction and Kattaparichchan in Trincomalee, and Parakramapura (Ma Oya) and Buddangala (Weli Ela) in Anuradhapura were inundated and the relief teams were deployed in these areas for flood relief duties. Those relief teams are actively providing essential transportation via dinghies to support daily activities, distribute cooked meals, and rescue those affected by floods.

In addition, 125 more relief teams are kept on standby to respond to any emergency across flood-stricken areas in the country.
