Navy nets more than 833kg of Kendu leaves in Negombo Lagoon

The Sri Lanka Navy seized a stock of Kendu leaves weighing over 833kg, along with 02 dinghies and 02 suspects, during search operations conducted in the Negombo Lagoon on 08 and 15 Aug 25.

The operations were carried out by SLNS Kelani of the Western Naval Command, leading to the seizure of 02 suspicious dinghies with the haul of Kendu leaves attempted to be smuggled into the country.

The apprehended suspects, aged 42 and 43, are residents of Negombo. The suspects, the consignment of Kendu leaves, and the dinghies were subsequently handed over to the Katunayake Customs Preventive Office for onward legal action.
