Navy springs into action, rescues 03 Indian fishermen from distressed boat
The Sri Lanka Navy rescued 03 Indian fishermen from a distressed fishing boat near Analathivu Island, Jaffna, due to a technical malfunction on 16 Oct 25.
Upon inspection, it was found that the boat had run out of fuel, leaving it adrift at sea. The Navy promptly rescued the 03 fishermen onboard and provided them with essential humanitarian assistance, including food and drinking water.
The fishermen were identified as residents of Mallipatnam, Tamil Nadu, India. After initial medical examinations and the provision of additional relief, the group was handed over to the Kayts Police Station, Jaffna, for onward legal proceedings.
