Navy takes hold of about 1292kg of Kendu leaves in Mannar

During a search operation on the morning of 14 Dec 25 in the Erukkalampiddi beach area, the Sri Lanka Navy seized a cab which was ready to illegally transport approximately 1,292kg of Kendu leaves.

The search was carried out by SLNS Gajaba, in the North Central Naval Command. Upon inspection of a suspiciously parked vehicle in the area, naval personnel discovered the stock of Kendu leaves packed in 40 sacks and ready for transport.

The stock and the vehicle were subsequently handed over to the Mannar Excise Office for further legal proceedings.
