Navy seizes foreign-origin cannabis valued over Rs. 06 million on Delft Island

The Navy took hold of about 26kg and 900g of foreign-origin cannabis, during a search operation on the Delft Island, Jaffna on 14 Dec 25.

The operation was mounted by SLNS Wasaba of the Northern Naval Command in the Welliyayi beach area of the Delft Island, leading to the seizure of the stash of cannabis in 13 parcels which had been contained in a sack.

The gross street value of the stock of cannabis is believed to exceed Rs. 06 million. The stash of cannabis was handed over to the Delft Police for onward legal action.
