Coordinated operation nets 02 suspects and big haul of pharmaceuticals in Wattala
In a coordinated search operation conducted in the Wattala area on 02 Feb 26, the Sri Lanka Navy and Police apprehended 02 suspects with a significant haul of pharmaceuticals (744,500 capsules) and a lorry (01) used to transfer those items.
Based on information provided by the Northwestern Naval Command, the coordinated operation was mounted by naval personnel of SLNS Rangalla and Gemunu of the Western Naval Command with the Wattala Police. Upon examination, the raiding party discovered and confiscated this stock of pharmaceuticals (744,500 capsules), which were suspected to have been smuggled into the country.
The seized items, along with the suspects who are residents of Kalpitiya and Kobeygane, aged 28 and 32, were handed over to the Wattala Police Station for onward investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
