Constant vigilance nets 953kg of Kendu leaves off Marawila

In a search operation conducted off the coast of Marawila on 03 Mar 26, the Sri Lanka Navy seized a substantial consignment of over 953kg of Kendu leaves intended to smuggle in.

The operation was carried out by a Fast Attack Craft of the Navy, attached to the Western Naval Command, which recovered 27 suspicious sacks, containing this stock of Kendu leaves, abandoned at sea. It is suspected that smugglers abandoned the consignment in the face of heightened naval surveillance in the area.

The entire stock of Kendu leaves was handed over to the Customs Preventive Office at the Colombo Port for further legal action.
