A suspect collared with prescription pills in Samanthurai

In a coordinated effort to curb the illegal distribution of controlled substances, the Sri Lanka Navy, with the Police Special Task Force (STF), arrested a suspect (01) in the Samanthurai area of Ampara, in possession of approximately 200 prescription pills intended for illegal sale, on 04 Mar 26.

The combined search operation was conducted by personnel from SLNS Deegayu of the Southeastern Naval Command and the Samanthurai Police STF. Upon searching the individual, the stock of approximately 200 pills being held for unauthorized sale were recovered.

The apprehended suspect is a resident of the Samanthurai area, aged 19. The suspect, along with prescription drugs were handed over to the Samanthurai Police for onward legal action.
