A coordinated search operation mounted by the Navy and Police STF in Paranthan of Kilinochchi on 26 Mar 25 led to the interception of a lorry for smuggling about 20kg and 150g of Kerala cannabis. The operation also resulted in the arrest of a suspect involved in the smuggling racket.

The Sri Lanka Navy seized 01 Indian fishing boat and apprehended 11 Indian fishermen while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters, during a special operation conducted in the northern sea area, off the Delft Island in the wee hours of 27 Mar 25.

In a series of coordinated search operations conducted by the Navy from 08 to 20 Mar 25, fifty-seven (57) individuals involved in various illegal fishing activities were apprehended. The individuals were caught engaging in practices such as illegal night diving, illegal harvesting of sea cucumbers and illegal fishing. The operations spanned multiple locations, including Nandikadal Lagoon, Cod Bay, Echchalampaththu, Kalkuda, Kokilai, Pothuvil and Kinniya.

The Sri Lanka Navy swiftly responded to bring ashore an injured fisherman and transfer him to the General Hospital, Hambantota for urgent medical attention today (25 Mar 25). Reportedly, the fisherman, with injuries from a fish - bite, was aboard a local multi-day fishing trawler, about 326 nautical miles (603km) off the southern coast of Dondra and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo coordinated the retrieval of the injured fisherman with the assistance of a ship in the sea area.

A search operation conducted by the Navy in the beach area of Thalvupadu on 23 Mar 25 led to the apprehension of 03 suspects and seizure of a dinghy, in which a smuggled stock of over 402kg of cardamom, 3781 packets of shampoo and 51 packets of cosmetic cream were found.

A coordinated operation conducted by the Navy and Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) on the night of 19 Mar 25 in Colombo 12, led to the arrest of a suspect with 19kg and 348g of hashish, 348g of heroin and 4g of methamphetamine (Ice).

The Sri Lanka Navy seized 01 Indian fishing boat and apprehended 03 Indian fishermen while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters, during a special operation conducted in the northern sea area off the Delft Island, Jaffna on the night of 17 Mar 25.

In a series of coordinated search operations conducted by the Navy from 28 Feb to 09 Mar 25, twenty-six (26) individuals involved in various illegal fishing activities were apprehended. The individuals were caught engaging in practices such as illegal night diving, illegal harvesting of sea cucumbers, and the use of explosives for fishing. The operations spanned multiple locations, including Nandikadal Lagoon, Back Bay, Manmunai, Erakkandi, Veththalakerni, Batticaloa Lagoon, Mannar, Kudiramalei Point, and Kinniya. During the raids, authorities confiscated illegal fishing gear, including 233 trap nets, 12 trammel nets, 11 monofilament nets, and 2,130 sea cucumbers, as well as 02 cabs and 04 dinghies.

The Navy apprehended 02 suspects with about 855 bars of soap, attempted to be smuggled in, during a search operation conducted in the Ippanthivu sea area, Kalpitiya on the night of 11 Mar 25. The operation also led to the seizure of a dinghy used for this illegal act.
