Sri Lanka Navy seized about 1680kg of Kendu Leaves, suspected to be attempting to smuggle by sea routes, during a special operation mounted in the beach area of Keerimundalama in Kalpitiya on the night of 01st July 2022.

A search operation carried out by the Navy in western seas off Negombo in the dark hours of 27th June 2022 led to the seizure of a local multiday fishing trawler with 47 persons, suspected to be on an illegal migration attempt to Australia via sea.

Sri Lanka Navy apprehended a local multiday fishing trawler with 54 individuals, suspected to be on an illegal migration attempt to Australia via sea, during a search operation carried out in the eastern seas of the island in the wee hours of today (27th June 2022).

Sri Lanka Navy pressed into action to clear debris and other remains collected in a tributary belonging to the Deduru Oya which flows in the Anavilundawa area of Puttalam. The Navy shouldered this task from 22nd to 24th June 2022 to clear the tributary, as it was blocked by the overgrowth of aquatic plants and the accumulation of waste.

Sri Lanka Navy apprehended a local multiday fishing trawler with 35 individuals, suspected to be on an illegal migration attempt to Australia via sea, during a search operation carried out in the western seas of the island on 23rd June 2022.

Ship MT-ALTAIR rescued 05 persons in distress aboard a local multiday fishing trawler that went into a mechanical failure, while in Arabian Sea on 20th June 2022. The rescue was coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo established at the Navy Headquarters.

The Navy took hold of about 543kg (in wet weight) of Kerala cannabis during a foot patrol in Periyapadu beach, Udappuwa in the wee hours of today (19th June 2022).

A special foot patrol conducted by the Navy in Kondachchikuda beach area, Silawathura in the night of 16th June 2022 led to the seizure of a smuggled stock (about 490 kg) of Kendu Leaves, which are being used for tobacco products.

A special operation mounted by Sri Lanka Navy in the eastern seas this morning (15th June 2022) led to the apprehension of 64 persons who were suspected to be attempting to illegally migrate from the country via sea routes.
