A special search operation conducted by the Navy in the coastal area of Polwathumodara, Weligama in the dark hours on 12th June 2021, led to the seizure of over 219kg of heroin attempted to be smuggled into the island by sea and apprehension of 09 suspects involved in the illegal act.

Search operations carried out by the Navy from April to thus far (05th June 2021) in the Northern and North Central Naval Commands led to the apprehension of 45 suspects with 4040 illegally harvested sea cucumbers and diving gears.

The Navy managed to apprehend a suspect with about 514kg of Kendu leaves and 70kg of dried turmeric attempted to be smuggled into the island via sea routes, during a special search operation conducted in the beach area of Vankalai, Mannar today (08^th June 2021).

Sri Lanka Navy brought ashore another critically ill fisherman and rushed him to hospital for treatment today (07^th June 2021). The fisherman who was aboard a fishing trawler in seas about 85 nautical miles (about 157 km) southwest of Beruwala, had suddenly fallen ill and was in critical condition.

To provide relief to the people affected by floods in the Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa Provinces due to heavy rains, Sri Lanka Navy has deployed 32 relief teams in flood relief operations in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle and Rathnapura. Meanwhile, the Navy teams continue to attend urgent relief operations focusing the flood affected communities today (07^th June 2021) as well.

A special foot patrol conducted by the Navy in the beach area of Nagarkovil today (07^th June 2021) led to the seizure of a stock of Kerala cannabis weighing around 96kg.

Sri Lanka Navy has commenced a mobile boat patrol since tonight (06th June 2021) to provide security to the houses and properties of the people displaced due to the floods in the Megoda Kolonnawa area.

A team comprising several senior diving officers of the Sri Lanka Navy, conducted a special diving operation today (06th June 2021) to inspect if there is any fuel leakage from the fire-damaged MV X-PRESS PEARL.

The Navy today (06th June 2021) managed to rescue 27 individuals, including children and women, affected by floods in Ja-Ela area in the Gampaha district, with the onset of showery weather condition. Upon being rescued, these persons were swiftly accommodated in safe locations and facilitated with relief measures.

Sri Lanka Navy has deployed 33 relief tams in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern Provinces to provide relief to the people affected by the floods caused by torrential rains. By this afternoon (05th June 2021), Navy relief teams have rescued to 66 more persons including children and women, affected by floods in several areas in the Gampaha and Kalutara districts and provided them relief measures.
