The Sri Lanka Navy on 25 Jul 25 rescued 04 Indian fishermen aboard an Indian fishing boat that had capsized in the Sri Lankan waters off Talaimannar.

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Police resulted in the arrest of a suspect with about 3200 foreign-manufactured cigarettes, in the Udaperadeniya area of Kandy on 16 Jun 25.

A search operation conducted by the Navy in the Nadukuda area of Mannar on 22 Jun 25 led to the seizure of Kendu leaves weighing approx. 1365kg and about 29100 tobacco products (mini-cigars), suspected to be smuggled in.

The Navy apprehended 03 suspects with 7. 48g of heroin, 29.86g of methamphetamine (ice) and 3.651kg of Kerala cannabis as well as seizure of a motorbike during coordinated operations conducted with the Police from 26 May to 12 Jun 25.

In separate search operations conducted by the Navy from 26 May to 07 Jun 25, seventy-six (76) individuals involved in various illegal fishing activities were apprehended in multiple locations. The operations also made way for the seizure of 20 dinghies employed for these illegal practices.

In a swift and lifesaving effort, the Sri Lanka Navy on 08 Jun 25 facilitated the emergency transfer of a heart patient requiring urgent medical attention. The timely intervention ensured the patient was rushed to the Kalpitiya Base Hospital from the Baththalangunduwa Island.

In an operation on 06 Jun 25, the Sri Lanka Navy in the Nadukkuda sea area of Mannar, led to the apprehension of 04 suspects and seizure of 02 dinghies loaded with around 1,314kg of smuggled Kendu leaves and other items, attempting to smuggle into the country.

In a joint operation on the night of 05 Jun 25, the Sri Lanka Navy and Police intercepted a van in Thillayadi, Puttalam, seizing approximately 386kg of Kendu leaves, believed to have been smuggled into the country, and a van used for this racket.

The Sri Lanka Navy took hold of about 2,123kg of smuggled Kendu leaves, during a search operation carried out today (05 Jun 25) in the beach vicinity of Mohoththuwaram, Kalpitiya.

A search operation conducted by the Navy today (04 Jun 25) led to the seizure of a dinghy with about 600kg of smuggled Kendu leaves in the coastal waters of Alankuda, Kalpitiya.
