Navy renders assistance to bring ashore a critically ill crew member of MV IYO for medical attention
With the coordination of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo, the Sri Lanka Navy promptly brought ashore a critically ill crew member of the cargo vessel MV IYO, sailing in the Eastern seas off Trincomalee, and transferred him to the Trincomalee General Hospital for treatment on 26 Oct 25.

Navy rescues crew members from distressed Merchant Vessel (MV) INTEGRITY STAR with engine failure
In a swift response to a distress call, the Sri Lanka Navy successfully rescued the crew of the Merchant Vessel (MV) INTEGRITY STAR, that was in distress due to failure in main engines approximately 100 nautical miles south of Sri Lanka and the crew was in a desperate situation. Meanwhile the rescued crew of the vessel was brought to the Port of Hambantota this morning (26 Oct).

In separate operations conducted by the Navy with the assistance of Police STF from 08 to 19 Oct 25, twenty-eight (28) individuals involved in various illegal fishing activities were apprehended along with 08 dinghies in multiple locations across the island.

Two (02) persons nabbed for illegal transportation of sea cucumbers
The Sri Lanka Navy, in collaboration with the Police Special Task Force, carried out a search operation in Welanithurai, Jaffna, on 14 Oct 25. The operation led to the arrest of 02 suspects transporting 1,240 illegally harvested sea cucumbers without valid permits, along with the seizure of the cab used for the transport.

Navy takes hold of over 839kg of heroin, methamphetamine and hashish in southern waters
The Sri Lanka Navy continues to carry out extensive operations to curb the smuggling of narcotics into the country, in its unwavering commitment to ensuring a safer nation. Acting on credible information, the Navy conducted a special operation in the southern seas on the morning of 14 Oct 25 and recovered fifty-one (51) sacks containing 839kg of heroin, crystal methamphetamine (ice) and hashish, which had been abandoned at sea. The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) together with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, inspected the seized narcotics upon their transfer to the Tangalle Fisheries Harbour.

Forty-five (45) individuals held for engaging in illegal fishing
In separate operations conducted by the Navy with the assistance of Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Police STF from 29 Sep to 07 Oct 25, forty-five (45) individuals involved in various illegal fishing activities were apprehended along with 11 dinghies, 02 canoes and 01 cab in multiple locations across the island.

Navy seizes 05 Indian fishing boats poaching in Sri Lankan waters
During operations conducted on 08 and wee hours of 09 Oct 25, the Sri Lanka Navy seized 05 Indian fishing boats and apprehended 47 Indian fishermen, while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters north of Mannar and off the Delft Island, Jaffna.
