As a result of flood emergencies following the inclement weather, 02 more Navy relief teams were sent out to flood prone areas in the Gampaha district today (15^th May 2021) to rescue distressed communities and provide them with relief measures.

The Navy deployed 03 more relief teams in flood prone areas in the Gampaha and Galle districts this evening (14^th May 2021) to rescue people affected by the floods and provide them flood relief, subsequent to the prevailing adverse weather.

A special operation carried out by Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard in Samindugama on 13th and 14th May 2021 led to the apprehension of 30 persons whom were suspected to have attempted to illegally migrate to a foreign country by sea.

Sri Lanka Navy has deployed 10 relief teams in flood prone areas in the Western and Southern Provinces to provide relief and rescue people from the risk of flooding due to heavy rains. Accordingly, Navy relief teams were able to rescue 06 flood victims with the overflowing of the Gin Ganga in the Udugama area, Galle on the night of 13th May 2021.

Four (04) more teams of the Navy Rapid Response Rescue & Relief Unit (4RU) were deployed in the flood prone areas in Nagoda and Thawalama Divisional Secretariats in the Galle District today (13^th May 2021).

Sri Lanka Navy pre-deployed two teams of Rapid Response Rescue & Relief Unit (4RU) in the Bulathsinhala Divisional Secretariat in the Kalutara District today (13^th May 2021), in preparation of possible floods due to heavy rains in existence.

With a view to provide immediate relief to the people affected during flood emergencies, Sri Lanka Navy established a Rapid Response Rescue & Relief Unit (4RU) in the Rathnapura New Town on 11th May 2021.

Sri Lanka Navy on 11th May 2021 apprehended a person who was returning to Mannar area by a small boat via sea routes, after having flown to India by air. Along with the suspect, 02 persons aboard and another 02 suspects involved in the act of smuggling were also taken into naval custody.

Naval patrols conducted in northwestern and western waters of the island on 07^th May 2021, led to the seizure of over 235kg of Kerala cannabis and about 522kg of onion seeds, attempted to be smuggled into the country via sea routes.

A special operation conducted by the Navy in Rajagiriya area on 03rd May 2021, led to the apprehension of 03 suspects with about 311g and 250mg of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) and about 47g and 600mg of hashish.
