In a major counter-narcotics operation, the Sri Lanka Navy apprehended five (05) suspects and seized a local multi-day fishing trawler carrying a consignment of suspected substances on the high seas off southern coast.

During an operation conducted in the wee hours of today (23 Dec 25), the Sri Lanka Navy seized an Indian fishing trawler (01) and apprehended 12 Indian fishermen, while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters north of Talaimannar.

The Sri Lanka Navy rescued two (02) fishermen from a capsized fishing boat in Trincomalee Inner Harbour on 15 Dec 25, during a rescue operation prompted by adverse weather conditions.

The Sri Lanka Navy brought ashore an ill fisherman who was in critical condition aboard a local multiday fishing trawler, about 16 nautical miles (29km) off Trincomalee. Upon being brought ashore, he was rushed to the Trincomalee General Hospital on the night of 10 Dec 25 for medical attention.

During a search operation on the morning of 14 Dec 25 in the Erukkalampiddi beach area, the Sri Lanka Navy seized a cab which was ready to illegally transport approximately 1,292kg of Kendu leaves.
