Search and rescue launched after Navy craft incident off Angulana

Eleven (11) naval personnel were rescued after a Naval Fast Attack Craft encountered distress off Angulana while returning from a routine patrol at around 11:40 this morning (15 August 2026).

The personnel were rescued with the assistance of Angulana Police, local residents and local fishing community. The rescued personnel have been hospitalized and their condition is stable.

Further, search and rescue operations are underway by the Navy, with the support of the Sri Lanka Air Force and local fishing community.
