Suspect arrested with 400 medicine tablets intended for illegal sale

The Sri Lanka Navy arrested a suspect with 400 medicine tablets in his possession for illegal sale, during a coordinated search operation with the Police at the Matale Junction of Anuradhapura on 29 August 2026.

The operation was conducted by personnel from the North Central Naval Command's SLNS Pandukabhaya, together with Anuradhapura Police, following credible information received by the naval establishment. The suspected individual in the area was searched during the operation, leading to the recovery of 400 medicine tablets in his possession.

The suspect, a 25 year old resident of Anuradhapura, and the seized tablets were handed over to Anuradhapura Police for further legal proceedings.
